This year at the VMA’s, MTV and Toyota wanted to make sure the LatinX community was strongly represented. So in tandem with sponsored performances by CNCO and Maluma, a two minute in-show spot was created featuring NYC artists of all musical genres reinterpreting J Balvin’s megahit Mi Gente as a Highlander drove through various neighborhoods. It was called “the best performance of the VMAs” and no one could believe it was a commercial. Way to go Toyota and MTV!
